David Russell has directed many domestic and international tourism projects in the last 25 years. He is recognized for
particular expertise in tourism planning and policy development for destinations as well as an appreciation of the
important role of heritage, cultural and nature tourism in enhancing a destination's appeal.
David has completed tourism master plans and national
tourism policies for regions and countries including:
Trinidad and Tobago
Barbados
Dominica
Belize
Tourism sector assessments and strategies have been undertaken for many destinations ranging from Negril,
Jamaica a
nd Guyana in the Caribbean to Qatar and British
Columbia, Canada. Cities such as Saskatoon in Canada and
Juneau, Carlsbad and Albuquerque in the US have sought

his
advice on strengthening their tourism sectors. He has
provided workshops and advice on tourism industry
competitiveness to a wide range of audiences such as:
Cabinet level and senior tourism officials in Panama,
Antigua, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Dominica,
Guyana, Suriname and St. Kitts and Nevis
Industry associations in cities, regions and
countries
David has also completed many assignments focused on
strengthening tourism industry standards; in Nepal for all
industry sectors,
in the Caribbean as part of the
development of national tourism strategies and policies, and
also for small hotels and tourism enterprises in 14 OAS
member countries in the Caribbean.
